Joining New York in this effort are blue strongholds like California, Illinois, Michigan, and the District of Columbia, among others — a who’s-who of states that never met a federal dollar they didn’t want to spend.
James ranted that, “This administration is not streamlining the federal government; they are sabotaging it.” She went on, “When you fire the scientists who research infectious diseases, silence the doctors who care for pregnant people and shut down the programs that help firefighters and miners breathe or children thrive, you are not making America healthy; you are putting countless lives at risk.”
“This is not how government is supposed to work,” she added. “These actions are dangerous, cruel and illegal. They defy Congress’s authority and they violate federal law. And that is why today I am leading a lawsuit joined by Democratic attorneys general across the country to stop this administration from tearing down our public health infrastructure.”
It’s clear that the left’s plan is simple: maintain endless federal spending or unleash their lawyers on whoever dares to suggest otherwise. In their world, any effort to rein in bloated bureaucracies is seen as an existential threat to their grip on Washington.
President Trump’s attempts to responsibly scale back a runaway government machine are being spun as an “assault,” when in reality, they represent basic fiscal responsibility. Yet the Democrat AGs — with James at the forefront — react with predictable fury every time.
But there’s a bigger story lurking behind James’ latest grandstanding.
While she throws lawsuits at Trump to distract the media, her own alleged misconduct is finally catching up to her. Federal Housing Finance Agency Director William Pulte recently referred James for investigation, citing “irregularities in a series of loans James obtained” for two of her properties.
The accusations are damning. James allegedly misrepresented her primary residence to banks, claiming a Virginia home was her main address while she held office and lived in New York. She also repeatedly filed loan documents stating that a Brooklyn property had four or fewer units, despite official records proving it had five. Even more absurdly, she had her father co-sign mortgage documents while listing him as her husband.
If these reports are true, James gamed the mortgage system to secure better loan terms — the very thing she accused Trump of doing. The hypocrisy couldn’t be more obvious.
Naturally, when these revelations came to light, James’ office dismissed the allegations as nothing more than political retaliation. “Attorney General James is focused every single day on protecting New Yorkers, especially as this Administration weaponizes the federal government against the rule of law and the Constitution. She will not be intimidated by bullies — no matter who they are,” her spokesman declared.
Now, rather than answer tough questions about her own actions, James is back to doing what she does best: suing her political enemies. It’s an old trick, but when you’re drowning in scandal, creating a fresh headline about Trump seems to be her only lifeline.
For conservatives, it’s a clear reminder: Democrats preach about “due process” and the “rule of law,” but when it comes to protecting their own or punishing their opponents, it’s all just a show. James’ latest lawsuit isn’t about saving public health — it’s about saving herself.
