President Donald Trump didn’t hold back last month when he ripped into Russia for launching missile strikes during delicate peace negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Speaking with reporters before boarding Air Force One, Trump covered a wide range of topics—everything from Middle East diplomacy to the disturbing death of Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre. But it was the issue of Ukraine that drew some of his sharpest comments.
Trump praised his recent conversation with Zelenskyy, which took place prior to Pope Francis’ funeral, describing it as productive. “We’ll see what happens over the next few days,” Trump told the press. “I was very disappointed that missiles were flying, by Russia…very disappointed.”
According to Trump, Zelenskyy was adamant that Crimea remains a non-negotiable issue for Ukraine. Trump said the Ukrainian president raised the topic during their private talks, underlining its importance.
