On Wednesday morning, the CNN panel and leftist legal pundits were terrified. The Biden administration was given a stern injunction by a federal court asking that they stop putting pressure on social media businesses to prohibit or muzzle individuals who pose a risk to public safety or health.
Elie Honig has a strong response to the latest decision, which defenders of free speech have welcomed as a big win for the First Amendment. Honig, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney in New York, declared that he was “astonished” by the judgment and voiced his shock.

“This is a conservative ideology. It clearly comes through in this decision. It’s a conservative political ideology. We saw some of the quotes, questioning vaccines, questioning masks, conservative talking points. But the ruling itself is the opposite of judicial conservatism. This is one of the most aggressive, far-reaching rulings you’ll ever see. What this judge is purporting to do is micromanage really the day-to-day interactions between the entire executive branch… and the leading social media companies,” Honig claimed.

Honig served as an ADA in New York from 2004 until 2012 before accepting a job in the Attorney General’s Office in New Jersey. Progressive bail changes that he put into place when he was there made it unnecessary for the majority of offenders to post cash bail.
“In the actual temporary injunction, the judge basically says, ‘You’re not allowed, [Biden] administration, to talk to these social media companies about any protected free speech except for cybersecurity threats, national security threats, criminal threats.’ But where’s the line? Who’s going to police this?” Honig added.
The U.S. Senate approved Judge Terry A. Doughty’s appointment with a resounding 98-0 vote, according to a CNN correspondent. Doughty was chosen by former President Donald Trump.
Judge Doughty’s decision may have a substantial impact on Big Tech’s ability to censor dissident opinions that differ from the official line of the federal government on a number of topics, such as Covid public health initiatives and claims of electoral fraud. Surprisingly, the American Civil Liberties Union, who prides itself on standing up for the First Amendment, said nothing about this. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., a Democratic presidential contender, stated his happiness over the ruling since it would cease the continued restriction of his views on social media sites.
