Elon Musk didn’t leave the White House quietly. On his final day leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the tech titan walked into the Oval Office sporting a black eye—and as expected, it became the center of conversation faster than you can say “X Æ A-Xii.”
During a press event with President Trump, Musk addressed the eye-catching injury with his usual dry humor. “Well, I wasn’t anywhere near France,” he said, throwing shade at French President Emmanuel Macron, who recently made headlines for getting slapped by his wife during a state visit. Musk’s delivery? Classic.
But when pressed on what really happened, Musk pointed the finger—at his 5-year-old son. “No, I just was horsing around with little X,” he added. “And I said, ‘Go ahead, punch me in the face.’ And he did. Turns out even a 5-year-old punching you in the face … actually does this.”
The child in question, of course, is X Æ A-Xii—his son with singer Grimes (real name Claire Boucher). The couple’s unique name choice reportedly stems from a mix of sci-fi references, mathematical symbols, and California naming restrictions. “X” for the unknown variable, “Æ” as a nod to AI and elvish spelling for “love,” and “A-12” from the Lockheed jet, stylized as “Xii” due to state law forbidding numbers in legal names. Leave it to Musk to make an algebra problem out of a birth certificate.
