The viral Target confrontation that set social media on fire has entered a new phase, as the 72 year old employee at the center of the storm has finally spoken out and the employer of the woman who berated her is now scrambling to contain the fallout.
Jeanie Beeman, a longtime Target employee in Chico, California, was thrust into the national spotlight after a now infamous TikTok video showed her being aggressively confronted by Michelea Ponce for wearing a red “Charlie Kirk Freedom” shirt while on the job. The video, which Ponce herself uploaded, quickly spread across social media and conservative news outlets, sparking widespread outrage over what many described as harassment of an elderly woman for her political beliefs.
Beeman has since spoken to the media, displaying the same calm and grace that viewers saw in the viral clip. In the video, Ponce repeatedly demanded to know why Beeman was wearing the shirt, calling her “f**king stupid,” accusing her of supporting a “racist,” and demanding to speak to a manager in an apparent attempt to get her fired. Beeman remained composed, politely explaining that Target allows employees to wear any red shirt and calmly correcting Ponce by stating that Kirk is not racist before wishing her a nice day and walking away.
