DoorDash released its annual Cheeseburger Index, and the findings hit like a punch to the gut. The company tracked the total price of a classic burger meal in the one hundred largest cities across the country. What they found confirms what millions of families have felt every single day.
The national average for one simple meal reached a stunning 18.58 dollars. That is not for steak. That is not for a fancy restaurant. That is for a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink.
Even worse, that number jumped 3.8 percent in just one year. Under Biden’s leadership, restaurant prices exploded by twenty two percent, and fast food chains saw some of the most aggressive price jumps in modern history. McDonald’s customers felt it first. A Big Mac that cost 3.99 dollars not too long ago now costs 8.29 dollars. Meanwhile, the famous Subway five dollar footlong sits at 8.49 dollars.
