Democrats FUMING After Trump Aide’s Surprise Exit

James Blair, currently serving as White House deputy chief of staff, is reportedly weighing a temporary departure from his administration role in order to take on a central position in President Donald Trump’s political machine heading into the 2026 midterm elections. The development was confirmed in comments provided to Politico by White House chief of staff Susie Wiles.

According to Wiles, Blair’s potential move is being actively discussed as part of broader strategic planning inside the Trump orbit, particularly as Republicans prepare for what is expected to be a highly competitive midterm cycle.

“James is a top lieutenant of the President’s and has been invaluable to me for the better part of a decade. That is the frame from which we are considering our options,” Wiles said.

She also emphasized that the internal conversation is focused on maximizing effectiveness at a critical political moment, framing the decision as a matter of practical strategy rather than personnel instability.
