Democratic Iowa gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand faced an ugly reception at the Iowa State Fair on Thursday, where a confrontation with voters and conservative activists reportedly ended with the candidate spending roughly 15 minutes inside a bathroom before leaving the fairgrounds.
Sand, Iowa’s current state auditor and the Democratic nominee for governor, was confronted with a stream of questions from attendees and activists affiliated with Turning Point Action, the advocacy organization connected to Turning Point USA.
Video from the encounter showed the Democrat moving through the fair as critics followed him, demanding answers about his political record and previous positions.
