Michigan prosecutors have filed criminal charges against five noncitizens accused of illegally participating in the 2024 presidential election, adding fresh scrutiny to the state’s voter-registration safeguards.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Thursday that the five defendants allegedly voted or attempted to vote despite not being U.S. citizens.
A sixth person — an American citizen — was also charged for allegedly helping a noncitizen spouse register to vote.
