Democrat Congressman Glenn Ivey of Maryland is catching heat after throwing a tantrum over being blocked from visiting an MS-13 gang member — one who was deported from the U.S. and is now enjoying comfortable accommodations in El Salvador.
While most Americans honored Memorial Day by paying respect to our fallen heroes, Rep. Ivey spent his weekend overseas pleading on behalf of a criminal illegal alien who had already been ordered deported by not just one, but two U.S. immigration courts.
The individual Ivey was desperately trying to see is Kilmar Abrego Garcia — a Salvadoran national and alleged MS-13 member who was living in Maryland illegally. Back in 2019, a judge ordered him removed from the country, citing his gang affiliation. An appellate court upheld that decision, yet Democrats like Ivey seem to believe criminal aliens deserve special treatment.
This wasn’t a case of mistaken identity or wrongful imprisonment. Abrego Garcia was considered dangerous enough to be deported and initially placed in CECOT — El Salvador’s infamous maximum-security prison that houses some of the world’s most violent criminals.
