President Donald Trump’s push to dismantle the bloated federal bureaucracy was just slammed with a major roadblock — and conservatives across the country are sounding the alarm.

In a ruling that has the Washington Swamp cheering, U.S. District Judge Susan Illston, a Clinton-era appointee, stepped in to block Trump’s bold reform agenda spearheaded through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by tech mogul Elon Musk.
Judge Illston’s decision comes in the form of a preliminary injunction — a legal maneuver that now prevents 21 federal agencies from carrying out planned workforce reductions and administrative streamlining.
“The judge turned a Temporary Restraining Order into a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump Administration’s effort to overhaul and reorganize 20 agencies in the Executive Branch,” CBS News reported.

At the heart of the legal assault is a lawsuit filed by powerful government unions — the AFL-CIO and the American Federation of Government Employees — who are fighting tooth and nail to preserve their grip on Washington’s entrenched bureaucratic machinery.
