In a major shake-up at the Department of Justice, interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin has reassigned multiple Biden DOJ prosecutors to handle misdemeanor cases in the D.C. Superior Court. These prosecutors, responsible for targeting Trump supporters and pushing politically motivated prosecutions, are now facing what some see as a long-overdue reckoning.

Reuters reported on Friday that these prosecutors, many of whom built controversial cases against members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, will now be focusing on low-level offenses. The move follows years of allegations that the DOJ manipulated evidence and pressured defendants to falsely implicate former President Donald Trump in the events of January 6, 2021.

Politico revealed the list of demoted prosecutors, including John Crabb and Elizabeth Aloi, who led the contempt of Congress cases against Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro, both of whom were sentenced to four months in jail. Jason McCullough, one of the prosecutors behind the convictions of Proud Boys leaders Enrique Tarrio, Joe Biggs, and Ethan Nordean, has also been reassigned. These men were handed lengthy sentences for their alleged roles in the Capitol riot, despite widespread concerns over the fairness of their trials.
