Another Musk retweet followed soon after, referencing a decades-old New York Magazine quote where Trump described Epstein as “a terrific guy” who “likes beautiful women… on the younger side.” Musk, once again, replied with that same raised eyebrow emoji—fueling speculation without offering a single fact.
But while the internet exploded, Trump remained curiously silent. No posts. No press statements. Just a powerful message on Truth Social defending his “Big Beautiful Bill” aimed at slashing taxes and reining in government spending.
“I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago,” Trump posted. “If this Bill doesn’t pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that… I didn’t create this mess, I’m just here to FIX IT.”
The silence led some to speculate that Trump might be hiding something. But Chris Cuomo doesn’t buy it.
“Trump hasn’t responded. Some are taking this as an admission. Not me,” Cuomo said. “I think, again, unless Musk does some serious ass-kissing on the quick, Trump is going to sue him for defamation.”
In Cuomo’s eyes, the former president isn’t ignoring Musk—he’s loading legal ammo. And according to the former CNN anchor-turned-legal analyst, if Trump sues, the outcome could be devastating—for Musk.
“And if Trump sues, I THINK HE WINS.”
While Cuomo typically mocks Trump’s aggressive litigation tactics, this time he made an exception.
“I didn’t even like it when Trump ‘threatened to sue [his] parents for giving birth to [him].’”
“Trump hasn’t responded. Some are taking this as an admission. Not me,” Cuomo said.
“I think, again, unless Musk does some serious ass-kissing on the quick, Trump is going to sue him for defamation,” he added.
But defamation law is no joke. In cases involving public figures, Trump would have to prove “actual malice”—that Musk either knew the allegation was false or acted with reckless disregard for the truth.
Cuomo believes that hurdle might be easier for Trump to clear than people think. Musk isn’t just another loudmouth on the internet—he’s a billionaire tech titan with access to intel pipelines and influence circles.
“He had access, connections, and clearances,” Cuomo added, suggesting Musk’s accusations carry extra legal weight.
And if it’s proven in court that Musk fabricated the Epstein allegation or knowingly spread a lie, Trump could be looking at a major payday. Cuomo hinted it could mirror another massive lawsuit Trump filed recently—his $20 billion case against CBS News over manipulated video content.
This may only be the beginning of a legal fight that could rock Silicon Valley, the political world, and the media landscape all at once.
As of now, Trump’s silence could be the calm before the storm. But if Cuomo is right, Elon Musk may be facing a courtroom reckoning—one that could end in a humiliating and costly defeat.
