A weekend meant to celebrate school pride and bring the Florida A&M University community together took a horrifying turn Saturday night after a shooting near the university’s stadium in Tallahassee left 12 people wounded, including six children, according to reports.
The violent incident cast a shadow over the university’s homecoming festivities, raising fresh concerns about public safety as families, students, and visitors gathered in the Florida capital for the celebrations.
Authorities were investigating the shooting early Sunday, but no arrests had been announced in connection with the incident at that time.
According to reports cited by Fox News, six of the 12 victims were children. The involvement of so many young victims made an already disturbing incident even more alarming, as investigators worked to establish what happened and who was responsible.
