Attorney General Pam Bondi just fired a warning shot heard around the world — and it’s aimed squarely at fraudsters who exploit America’s senior citizens. On World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Bondi made it crystal clear: the days of scamming Grandma from overseas are coming to an end.
Global scammers have been operating in the shadows, believing they could rob American seniors from the comfort of another country. But Bondi just exposed an international network of crooks who’ve made billions stealing from the elderly. And she’s leading the charge to put them out of business.
“The Trump administration won’t stand by while seniors are victimized,” Bondi said, unveiling a major nationwide crackdown. “Prosecutors across the country are stepping up the fight against malicious schemes that target older Americans,” she continued. “We are working with domestic law enforcement and foreign counterparts every day to hold criminals accountable and ensure that justice is done for our seniors both here at home and abroad.”
In recent weeks, federal agents have swept across the country, arresting foreign fraudsters and their American collaborators. The charges span romance scams, fake lotteries, bogus tech support calls, and the infamous “grandparent scam” — all designed to emotionally manipulate seniors into draining their savings.
