The political divide inside ABC’s “The View” was on full display this week after Joy Behar enthusiastically defended democratic socialism, only to find herself blindsided by details about the very candidates she was celebrating.
The heated exchange came as progressive activists and Democratic Socialists celebrated a series of primary victories in New York, victories that many on the Left are hailing as a sign of growing momentum for their movement. But critics argue those wins reveal something very different — a Democratic Party increasingly influenced by activists with positions far outside the political mainstream.
Behar made it clear she had little concern about the socialist label that continues to alarm many Americans.
