An FBI informant is accused of lying about President Biden’s son Hunter’s relationship with the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.
Alexander Smirnov, a 41-year-old accused informant, is accused of misleading FBI agents by stating that Burisma executives received $5 million apiece in 2015 and 2016. The primary focus of the House impeachment investigation into President Biden last summer was this June 2020 accusation.

House investigators acknowledged that the claims are still unsubstantiated at this time.
In a 37-page indictment, Special Counsel David Weiss charges Smirnov of disseminating false information.
Hunter Biden was offered a board seat by a Burisma executive, according to the prosecution, in order to protect the company from problems arising from his father, Joe Biden. After Joe Biden won the Democratic nomination for president, this information was given to the FBI.
