Another chapter in the never-ending Biden family soap opera has unfolded — and it’s not exactly a tearjerker for those involved. Instead of mourning the end of her marriage, Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley appears to be taking a victory lap.
Court documents obtained by the New York Post on Tuesday confirm that Ashley Biden has officially filed for divorce from her husband of more than 13 years, Dr. Howard Krein. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the filing took place in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
Krein, 59, is no ordinary ex-spouse. He’s an otolaryngologist and plastic surgeon working at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. The couple’s marriage, which began in June 2012 in Greenville, Delaware, came about thanks to Ashley’s late brother Beau, who introduced them.
But judging by Ashley’s reaction, this breakup wasn’t exactly a heartbreaking moment. According to the Daily Mail, she marked the occasion with a now-deleted Instagram story showing herself walking through a park, flashing a thumbs up. The soundtrack? Beyoncé’s “Freedom” — a song choice that felt more like a celebration than sorrow.
