Arizona’s School Board Says: Nix Christian Teachers?

When a member of an Arizona school board showed up to a meeting wearing cat ears and declared she was against signing a contract with a Christian university, it created quite a commotion. Her rationale? She didn’t share the institution’s commitment to the Christian principles, which sparked debate in the neighborhood.

Through a creative partnership with Arizona Christian University, the Washington Elementary School District has been enhancing its educational offerings for the past five years. They have created exciting chances to hire future educators from all throughout Phoenix and Glendale by entering into a contract to place student teachers in their schools for field experience.

The board deliberated for some time before agreeing to part ways with its longtime academic partner, Christian university. Now awaits a fresh chapter of development and possibility!

Fox News Digital asked the shool board whether they had a bias against Christian beliefs, and they said, “The board’s decision to discontinue its partnership with Arizona Christian University was based on the board’s commitment to create a safe place for our LGBTQ+ students, staff, and community. This includes not knowingly entering into partnerships with any organization that explicitly discriminates against protected classes covered by our nondiscrimination policies.”

Tamillia Valenzuela voiced her displeasure over a five-year deal that had been made with a Christian university at the school board meeting. She passionately pleaded for improvements to be made as soon as possible, denouncing the contract with force and lamenting its continued existence.

“While I full-heartedly believe in the religious freedom and people being able to practice whatever faith that they have, I had some concerns regarding looking at this particular institution,” she said. “And I think it’s a really good time for us to take a moment and really pause about where our values lie.”

“And while I understand we are currently in a situation across the nation that we have a teacher shortage and recruiting… is really difficult,” she said.

“My concerns, [is] when I go to Arizona Christian University’s website, [ they are] ‘committed to Jesus Christ, accomplishing his will and advancements on earth as in Heaven.’”

“Part of their values is… [to] ‘transform the culture with truth by promoting the Biblically-informed values that are foundational to Western civilization, including the centrality of family, traditional sexual morality, and lifelong marriage between one man and one woman,'” she said.

“I want to know how bringing [teachers] from an institution that is ingrained in their values so directly brings impact to three of your board members who are a part of the LGBT community.”

The board recently added pronouns to their dias as a symbolic act of inclusivity, demonstrating its pride and support for the LGBT community.

“Because if we’re bringing people in whose mission [has]… been with their institution’s education that very plainly on their website… that above all else, it was to influence people to Biblically-minded. How does that hold space for people of other faiths? How does that hold space for our members of the LGBT community? How does that space for people who think differently and do not have the same beliefs,” she said.

“At some point, we need get real with ourselves and take a look at who we’re making legal contracts with and the message that is sending to our community. Because that makes me feel like I could not be safe in this school district.”

Similar concerns were voiced by other school board members.

Kyle Clayton, a member of the school board, criticized the college for “teaching with a Biblical lens.”

“I, too, echo what Ms. Valenzuela said when I… looked into not only their core values, but the statement of faith… [which they] ask their students to sign and live by,” he said.

“Proselytizing is embedded into how they teach. And I just don’t believe that that belongs in schools.”

  1. The ignorance to think your desire to live your life away from God’s…, is enough to say it would be safer for the Christian community to protect itself from ideology such as yours, you’ve been baught into a system that help the depopulation efforts of the WHO, if everyone was gay would humanity exist? Exactly why we know this isn’t part of God’s plan. Yes they will love and let you live your life because God made it free to choose, but don’t think your in such dispare because the very people your victomizing against will be the first ones to help and love you. But they know the days that are coming ahead and are very prepared.
As the song goes “Soon and very soon we are going to see our King” we pray you’ve made that right choice when he comes.

  2. So, while you and your board are so incensed over any person or organization that is not diverse or inclusive enough you have no problem being prejudiced against Christian ideals. God Bless America, PLEASE!!!!

  3. What is amazing to me is that when this subject comes up the catch phrase is that somebody does not feel safe. The problem is that they want everyone to believe like they do, blindly following and unable to think for them selves. The biggest reason that they do not feel safe is because they do not like their fantasy challenged with truth. And I’m sure that these same people will tell you to believe the science when it comes to climate change (old narrative Global Warming) but they refuse the science when it comes to their life style. The Bible is truth and it speaks to how we are to live, wether you chose to follow it is between you and GOD. The difference is that I will share may faith, not force it on you. You want to force your belief on me with no choice, and that is what you are doing by not renewing this colleges contract. They are a danger to you because they do agree with you. I know that this comment has been longer then I intended but, lastly it is amusing to me that you all talk about being ALL INCLUSIVE while excluding everyone that does not think like you. You talk about Christians being hateful when in reality all the hate lies within your own heart. Out of the heart the mouth speaks!
