Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett has never been shy about throwing accusations around, but this time her grandstanding finally blew up in her face. What she attempted on the House floor was supposed to be a dramatic defense of fellow Democrat Stacey Plaskett. Instead, Crockett delivered one of the most embarrassing political faceplants in recent memory.
Crockett stormed onto the floor insisting Republicans were hypocrites for supporting a censure vote against Plaskett. Her plan was simple. Make conservatives look guilty by tying them to Jeffrey Epstein. So she unleashed a list of GOP names she claimed had received money from Epstein himself. She proudly declared, “Folks who also took money from somebody named Jeffrey Epstein, as I had my team dig in very quickly. Mitt Romney, the NRCC, Lee Zeldin, George Bush, WinRed, McCain-Palin, Rick Lazio.”
It sounded explosive. It sounded damaging. It also happened to be completely wrong.
The problem did not take long to expose. Crockett had mixed up the infamous sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein with a completely unrelated donor who happened to share the same name. Within hours, the truth torched her argument.
