The 66-year-old actor made the comments during the Torino Film Festival, where he accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award, offering up his unsolicited opinions on global issues and the role of the entertainment industry in addressing them.
Fresh off being cleared of involuntary manslaughter charges related to the accidental shooting of Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust, Baldwin didn’t shy away from controversy. He declared that Americans lack the ability to grasp critical topics such as climate change, the conflict in Israel, and the war in Ukraine. In his view, the U.S. media isn’t up to the task of informing the public.

“Television news in the United States is a business. They have to make money… There’s a hole. There’s a vacuum. There is a gap, if you will, in information for Americans,” Baldwin remarked.
