During a heated segment on Steve Bannon’s War Room, Lake unequivocally shut down the speculation, branding the reports as “absolute fake news.”
“The reporting yesterday was absolutely fake news,” Lake declared on Bannon’s program. “Think about how bad the media is. You cannot hate them enough, Steve.” Her remarks came as several outlets peddled the story, despite both Lake and Newsmax denying its validity.

Lake shed light on the backstory of the fabricated claim, highlighting what she believes is a growing trend of irresponsible journalism. “They reached out to me, asked if I was negotiating with Newsmax. I said, no, you know, get better sources. You’re wrong,” she explained. “Apparently, they reached out to Newsmax. Newsmax said it’s false, and they run the story anyway.”
