A Notorious Democrat Just Got a Mugshot

Former Florida Democratic gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum is back in the spotlight—but once again, it has nothing to do with politics.

The one-time Democratic rising star who nearly captured Florida’s governor’s mansion in 2018 was arrested last week in Alabama on multiple drug-related charges, according to jail records and police documents. The arrest adds another chapter to the dramatic downfall of a politician who was once hailed as one of the Democratic Party’s brightest young figures.

Authorities say Gillum was taken into custody Thursday evening by officers with the Daphne Police Department in Daphne, Alabama. He was later transported to the Baldwin County Jail, where online booking records show he was booked on three separate charges.
