WATCH: Mace Takes Down Gowdy with Epic Clapback!

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) delivered a scathing rebuke to former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy after his critical remarks about her vote on the government funding bill and his defense of ousted House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The heated exchange occurred following Gowdy’s appearance on Fox News’ Special Report with Bret Baier, where he took aim at several Republicans, including Mace and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).

During the segment, Gowdy defended the leadership of newly elected Speaker Mike Johnson, attributing dysfunction within the GOP to certain members rather than Johnson himself. “Mike Johnson is not dysfunctional, but several of his family members happen to be. They never should have gotten rid of Kevin [McCarthy],” Gowdy said. He then shifted his focus to Gaetz, who spearheaded the motion to oust McCarthy, and Mace, criticizing her for voting against the Trump-endorsed funding bill.

Gowdy questioned the strategy behind removing McCarthy, saying, “What was their plan when they got rid of Kevin McCarthy? They said they were going to cut spending. They said they were going to do this. The guy that instigated it, he’s out there singing Happy Birthday to 17-year-olds on Cameo.” Gowdy also expressed disapproval of Mace’s vote, adding, “Nancy Mace would not be in the House if it weren’t for Donald Trump, and she can’t vote the way that he asked her to today?”
