Trump also hinted at his decision process for a running mate, suggesting he has a few names in mind but is not ready to reveal them yet. “It’s the formal processes in my brain. I look at the same people that everybody else is looking at. We’ve had some really great people. I think we have really great people that want it. People have … expressed, ‘I would love to be vice president.’ Who wouldn’t? If you’re a politician, who wouldn’t want it?” he shared.

The race to become Trump’s vice presidential nominee is heating up, with several prominent Republicans reportedly under consideration. Reports suggest that Senators Marco Rubio, J.D. Vance, Tim Scott, Representatives Byron Donalds, Elise Stefanik, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, and former Housing Secretary Ben Carson are all in the running. NBC News noted that the vetting process seems particularly focused on Burgum, Rubio, Scott, and Vance.

Notably absent from the speculated list are South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake, and Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, sparking further speculation and discussion among political insiders and the media.

In a statement that underlines the fluidity and unpredictability of the selection process, a Trump campaign spokesperson stated, “Anyone claiming to know who or when President Trump will choose his VP is lying, unless the person is named Donald J. Trump.”

Meanwhile, Trump is not only focusing on his running mate but also on the broader electoral map. In a bold prediction, he claimed that he could turn New York—a traditionally Democratic stronghold—red in the upcoming election. “I believe that with your support, we can win the state of New York and I’m looking to win it as your presidential nominee. We are going to win New York – remember those words. I hope I’m gonna be correct. If I am, the election is over,” Trump asserted.

He highlighted several issues he believes are driving discontent among New Yorkers, including immigration and crime. “There’s tremendous discontent in New York with hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants taking over your schools and your playgrounds, and the crime that’s happening in the city of New York and the state of New York. The lack of supervision, the lack of control, the lack of leadership, terrible things are happening in New York. I think we can win it,” he stated.

Trump’s campaign is evidently gearing up for a significant challenge, with the former president stating, “And again, we’re gonna make a big play for New York, presidentially,” signaling a confident stride into the forthcoming electoral battle.
