Stefanik’s meeting with Trump, a prominent member of the House Republican leadership, indicates the former president’s enduring influence among conservative Republicans, according to The Hill.
ALERT! Major Water Restrictions In Effect!
The Republican from New York has been one of the most steadfast supporters of Trump in the House and has frequently been brought up as a potential running mate for the president in 2024. She was also among the House Republican leadership’s early proponents of the impeachment process against Biden.
However, Politico revealed at the time that Trump also had dinner with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of the Georgia GOP, during which the impeachment issue was also addressed. Additionally, Greene has been floated as a possible running partner.
Days before Republicans won control of the House a year ago, Stefanik (R-N.Y.) apparently deleted or password-protected almost two gigabytes of material. On January 6, of last month, he ripped into the Select Committee, which Nancy Pelosi had chosen.
The Oversight Subcommittee of the House Administration Committee, which is in charge of looking into the 2021 Capitol riot as well as the previous Democrat-led investigation into the riot, found earlier this week that more than 100 files were encrypted and erased from hard drives when the chamber switched to GOP control in January 2023, according to a report from the New York Post.
Four gigabytes of stored data were expected to be sent by the select committee to Republican Chairman Barry Loudermilk of Georgia. His committee reportedly only received two gigabytes of material, though.
Stefanik recently posted a criticism of the committee, which was composed of former Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney (R).
“As I said from day one, Nancy Pelosi’s sham January 6th Committee was illegitimate and unconstitutional. It should come as a surprise to no one that Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney’s fake committee illegally deleted records of their sham investigation and obstructed justice,” On Tuesday, Stefanik posted something on X. “The American people deserve full transparency.”
