Elise Stefanik, a New York congresswoman for the House Republican Conference, appears to be putting herself up as a possible running partner for Donald Trump in the 2024 contest. Her recent CNN interview, in which she discussed the importance of Mike Pence, Trump’s former vice president, made this clear.
In a recent interview, Stefanik made a strong implication that she would not have certified the 2020 election results as Senate president if she had been Trump’s vice president.

“I would not have done what Mike Pence did. I don’t think that was the right approach,” Stefanik told Kaitlan Collins of CNN. “I specifically stand by what I said on the House floor.”
She declined to vote in favor of certifying the results of the 2020 election, citing “unconstitutional overreach” in places such as Pennsylvania, where election rules were changed before the November elections by state authorities and courts rather than the legislature, as required by the U.S. Constitution. Republicans argued that the COVID outbreak was an unlawful reason for officials to permit massive mail-in voting at the time. Nonetheless, federal courts declined to get involved.
“I think it’s very important that we continue to stand up for the Constitution and have legal and secure elections, which we did not have in 2020,” Stefanik said.

As a rising figure in the party, Trump fully supports Stefanik.
Trump talked with her last autumn following the directive from House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who at the time, for committees to begin a formal investigation into President Joe Biden’s impeachment.
An informed source claims that Stefanik had a conversation with McCarthy in the Capitol immediately after he announced the impeachment investigation.
“I speak to President Trump a lot. I spoke to him today,” Stefanik informed reporters, saying that she thinks the Biden family’s commercial activities are “the biggest political corruption scandal of our lifetime.”
