Fani Willis, the district attorney for Fulton County, is now mired in a situation that is only becoming worse due to new developments.
According to recently discovered records, Willis paid Nathan Wade—her purported love partner—a much higher hourly fee for his work on the racketeering case against the former president of the United States, Donald Trump. John Floyd is a well-known authority on Georgia’s RICO laws, yet his salary pales in comparison to this payout discrepancy.

Wade was compensated at $250 per hour for his role as special prosecutor, while Floyd, a highly skilled and qualified professional, was recruited at $150 per hour.
In support of her choice, Willis claims that the compensation for each special counsel in the Trump case was the same. She goes on to say that there’s a chance that Wade was the target of racist criticism.
The agreement that describes John Floyd’s job and compensation and is attached to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office supports the financial scenario that has been revealed and heightens the concern.
Donald Trump and seventeen other people are being sued by the district attorney of Fulton County on allegations of racketeering. According to these accusations, they attempted to void the state’s 2020 election results.
Wade’s spouse claims in court documents that he withheld his $700,000 salary from her and withdrew it from their joint bank account “routinely overdrawn” despite “the clear inequity in financial circumstances.” For twenty years, the wife had been a stay-at-home mother, and during that period, she was financially dependent on Wade.
According to court filings, Wade started divorce procedures as soon as he started working for DA Willis. Wade filed a formal request to keep his divorce papers private in February 2022, only three months later.
Michael Roman, a former campaign staffer and co-defendant of Trump, has requested that the presiding court remove the Fulton County prosecutors due to their sexual relationship, which he believes would permanently taint the case. Roman’s lawyer did not provide any proof of the link in a petition from last Monday, but instead made reference to “sources close to both the special prosecutor and the district attorney” and asked for the divorce records to be opened.
DA Willis, who brought an August 2018 indictment against Trump and his associates, has been the subject of many inquiries over possible political reasons for her prosecution. Just before revealing the allegations, Willis published a revamped campaign website, raising concerns. Furthermore, Trump has said that she was romantically involved with a gang boss whom she subsequently brought legal action against. These events have increased the case’s level of attention.

Requests for information on possible unlawful coordination between DA Fani Willis and special counsel Jack Smith are being made by House Oversight Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH). In response to claims that DA Willis abused her position of authority by employing a romantic partner, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) took action and filed a complaint.
Willis addresses claims that she had an affair with the special prosecutor she assigned to the case. In her first public speech since the controversy surfaced, she speaks to Big Bethel AME churchgoers.
Willis, the Fulton County DA, argues in favor of hiring Wade. She makes it clear that each of the three special prosecutors was paid equally on an hourly basis when they were assigned to handle the case.
“Lord, your flawed, hard-headed, and imperfect child, I’m a little confused. I appointed three special counselors. Is my right to do? Paid them all the same hourly rate? They only each had one,” she said. “I hired one white woman, a good personal friend and great lawyer. A superstar, I tell you. I hired one white man, brilliant, my friend, and a great lawyer. And I hired one black man, another superstar, a great friend, and a great lawyer.”
One of Willis’s frequent themes in her statements was the suggestion that Wade is being criticized because of his color.
“Isn’t it them playing the race card when they constantly think I need someone from some other jurisdiction in some other state to tell me how to do a job I’ve been doing almost 30 years.”
“How come God, the same black man I hired, was acceptable when a Republican in another county hired him and paid him twice the rate? Oh y’all didn’t hear me. Another county, the elected official, has the authority to pay him twice the rate. Why is the white male Republican’s judgment good enough, but the black female Democrats’ not?”
“You cannot expect black women to be perfect and save the world,” Willis went on to say. “The Lord is completing us. We are not perfect. We need your prayers. We need to be allowed to stumble. We need grace. With that kind of support, we will move mountains and do Jesus’ will, stumbling all the way.”
