Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is pointing a finger at former President Joe Biden for the deadly cartel violence that continues to plague the state of Sinaloa. But critics argue that her latest remarks leave out key facts about how the conflict began and ignore growing scrutiny surrounding political figures within her own party.
During a recent public appearance, Sheinbaum suggested that the current bloodshed in Sinaloa can be traced back to the controversial capture of longtime cartel figure Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada. According to her argument, better coordination between U.S. authorities and the Mexican government could have prevented the violent power struggle that followed.
The claim immediately sparked debate because the circumstances surrounding Zambada’s arrest are far more complicated than a simple law-enforcement operation.
