Florida’s law enforcement officials recently revealed the impressive outcomes of a significant anti-human trafficking campaign. An extraordinary 219 people have been detained as a result of this operation, including illegal aliens, a local high school teacher, and even three Disney employees. Grady Judd, the sheriff of Polk County, revealed these startling revelations at a press conference.
The largest ever human trafficking sting in Polk County was successful because 119 people were apprehended as a result of it. Sheriff Judd said that 21 of them might be trafficking victims. Freddy Escalona (30) and Maria Guzman (36), who were detained, were accused of benefitting from prostitution and human trafficking.
Escalona admitted to investigators that he exploited many girls by managing their transportation and making money off their acts. He was accused of forcing a victim into prostitution by offering financial aid for vehicle maintenance and then demanding that she pay it back.
Guzman is accused of arranging two victims’ “dates” in order to traffic them and profit from it.
83 persons were arrested in total for soliciting prostitution. Eight people were discovered transporting prostitutes, while 17 more were arrested for offenses related to prostitution. A total of 44 major charges and 242 minor offenses were charged as a result of the operation.
In addition to several arrests, Sheriff Judd’s effective operation found 21 more victims of human trafficking, bringing the total number of victims this year to 45. This accomplishment was made possible by crucial partnerships with social service providers, which allowed us to offer assistance and chances to these courageous women searching for freedom.
“Not only did we arrest more suspects during this single operation than we have ever arrested before, we identified 21 human trafficking victims; during a similar operation in February, we identified 24 victims,” Judd said.
“That’s 45 victims we were able to identify this year. The valuable relationships that we have with the social services organizations who join us in these operations make it possible for these women to get help and be emancipated from this way of life,” he added.
35 people have been taken into custody. These individuals, who are thought to be in the country illegally, are reported to be from a variety of nations, including the Bahamas, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Mexico, Guatemala, and Cuba. Among those detained, 42 have illegal narcotics in their possession, 13 receive government assistance, 41 are married, two have weapons in their possession, and 18 are from out of state.

35 individuals have been detained for alleged immigration offences. They are immigrants from a variety of nations, including Cuba, the Bahamas, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, and Guatemala. Unsettlingly, 42 people were discovered to be in possession of illegal narcotics, 13 are receiving government assistance, and 2 were in possession of weapons. Notably, 18 of them live beyond their home state, and 41 of them are married.
Distinguished teacher and well-known athletic director are detained in a high-profile operation. Russell Rogers, a husband and father of three, will likely suffer major repercussions as a result of Polk County Public Schools’ efforts to terminate his employment.
According to Sheriff Judd, Disney employees and a hotel employee were involved in criminal activity. Amazingly, one suspect incorrectly believes it was his turn to enter a room after seeing police activity and a couple entering it.
In order to support the operation, law enforcement agencies—including the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and local police departments—collaborated with the Florida Department of Children and Families and groups like One More Child.
