Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, disclosed private documents that described the social media giant’s activities before and during President Joe Biden’s administration amid a flurry of claims and controversies. Conservatives claim that this is proof of censorship, but the White House continues to refute these claims.
On December 9, Karine Jean-Pierre disputed that the present government was involved in Twitter’s content moderation choices. She also denied reports that she had spoken to Jim Baker, the current employee of the corporation and a former general counsel for the FBI. Ms. Jean-Pierre made it clear in a message to the media that the White House had no involvement in these issues and that they “were not engaged.”

Prior to the election of last year, Twitter was at the heart of two disputes involving claims of repression and censorship. A complaint from NCLA tried to determine if Twitter, the White House, and the CDC had ever communicated about internet disinformation, but it hasn’t yet produced any conclusive proof that this had happened or resulted in real government meddling in content moderation.
According to recent allegations, the White House could have asked Twitter to restrict Americans’ freedom of expression, which raises concerns about our constitutionally guaranteed rights.
