Newly released police body camera footage is shedding new light on the traffic stop that led to former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo being arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated (OWI) in Wisconsin.
The videos capture a tense roadside encounter between the former NFL star and a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputy, showing Romo repeatedly denying he had been drinking while questioning why the stop had escalated into an impaired driving investigation.
Romo, now 46 and one of CBS Sports’ most recognizable NFL analysts, was taken into custody on July 23 after deputies pulled over his SUV along an elevated Milwaukee highway. Authorities said the stop was initiated after they observed what they described as unsafe driving, including passing another vehicle on the right and crossing a marked traffic area.
