A routine cargo flight turned into a deadly disaster Sunday afternoon when an Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 veered beyond the runway at Miami International Airport, crossed a roadway and came to rest in an area near the airport perimeter.
The aircraft had flown from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was landing on Runway 30 at approximately 2 p.m. when it failed to stop before reaching the end of the runway.
Videos captured in the immediate aftermath showed a massive plume of smoke rising into the sky as the aircraft crossed the airport boundary. The plane ultimately stopped in a field or adjacent area after traveling beyond the runway and across the roadway.
