For decades, Senator Bernie Sanders built his political brand around a simple message: wealthy elites were rigging the system against ordinary Americans.
On the campaign trail, Sanders frequently blasted what he described as a class of powerful millionaires and billionaires who, in his view, exercised outsized influence over government, media, and the economy.
But critics have long argued that one noticeable change occurred after Sanders himself entered the millionaire class.
Now podcast giant Joe Rogan has revived that conversation in front of millions of listeners.
During a discussion with financial commentator Caleb Hammer, Rogan pointed to what he sees as a glaring contradiction in Sanders’ political messaging.
“Bernie Sanders used to rally against millionaires,” Rogan told Hammer. “It used to be millionaires. All these millionaires are the problem. And now it’s billionaires.”
Rogan then delivered the observation that immediately grabbed attention online.
