Trump emphasized that the deal would restore stability to one of the world’s most strategically important shipping routes while preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

He explained that the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passageway for global energy supplies, is already beginning to reopen.

“The agreement is completely signed. And the Strait of Hormuz is already partially opened. And the main thing is that Iran will not have a nuclear weapon,” Trump stated.

The president also revealed that Macron had personally contacted him regarding concerns over rising energy prices and market uncertainty caused by tensions in the region.

Expressing appreciation for France’s assistance, Trump told Macron, “I want to thank you (French President Emmanuel Macron) for your help.”

Trump went on to discuss Vice President Vance’s involvement, noting that Vance is expected to travel to Geneva for the official signing ceremony. The president indicated that he may attend as well, depending on his commitments at the G7 gathering.

For his part, Macron welcomed the breakthrough and described the agreement as an important step toward stability in the Middle East.

The French leader called the arrangement a “very important peace deal” and stressed that long-term success would require maintaining open shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz, supporting regional security efforts, and ensuring strict limits on Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities.

With the Iran issue appearing to move toward resolution, Trump signaled that his administration is now turning attention toward another major international conflict.

“We had a very good conversation yesterday with President Zelenskyy and President Putin,” Trump noted.

The president suggested that fresh diplomatic efforts could soon emerge regarding the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

“I see maybe we can do something. I think they are both open to it. So I think now that this (Iran crisis) is finished, we are going to be focusing on that and see if we can get that one done,” Trump added.

The agreement with Iran, which was reportedly finalized through digital signatures and involved direct participation from Vice President Vance, has already generated optimism among energy markets. Supporters of the administration argue that the deal demonstrates the effectiveness of Trump’s America First foreign policy strategy while strengthening U.S. influence abroad.

WATCH:

Trump first announced the breakthrough on Sunday, declaring that negotiations had successfully reached their conclusion after months of talks.

Around the same time, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council released its own statement confirming that Tehran and Washington had finalized a memorandum of understanding intended to formally bring the conflict to an end.

According to the Iranian announcement, military operations involving multiple fronts, including forces backed by Iran in Lebanon, would cease “immediately and permanently” beginning Sunday night.

Officials indicated that negotiations on a broader agreement would proceed only after both sides fulfilled the commitments contained in the initial memorandum.

Reports suggest that the memorandum is expected to be formally signed on June 19. The signing would initiate a 60-day negotiating period focused on Iran’s nuclear activities and the framework for a broader long-term agreement between the two nations.

Trump celebrated the development on Truth Social.

“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” he added.

The president later expanded on what he believes the agreement could mean for the future of the Middle East.

“This Great Deal will bring Peace and Security to the whole Region. Many presidents have tried to make Peace with Iran, and all have failed before me.

“The Leaders of the Region have, for the first time, found a President who can help them achieve real Peace,” Trump said.

“With the opening of the Strait upon the signing of the Deal on Friday, for purposes of mine removal, oil will flow on both ends again for the Region, and the World!” he noted further.

As world leaders gather at the G7 Summit, the Iran agreement is likely to remain one of the most closely watched diplomatic developments. For the Trump administration, it represents a significant test of its foreign policy vision — and potentially a major geopolitical victory with implications extending far beyond the Middle East.
