The Trump administration is putting America’s beef industry under a microscope as federal officials examine why consumers are paying steep prices at the grocery store while ranchers complain about an increasingly concentrated marketplace.
The Justice Department has sought information from some of the biggest grocery chains in America as part of its scrutiny of beef pricing and competition.
Walmart, Costco, Kroger, Publix, Albertsons, Aldi, Ahold Delhaize USA and Amazon are among the retailers receiving requests for information.
