Despite years of Democrats insisting the so-called “Deep State” was merely a conspiracy theory, Brennan’s own remarks appeared to validate what many Americans have long suspected: powerful unelected officials are working behind the scenes to obstruct Trump.
“What still exists in the system to slow that down?” Wallace asked Brennan during the segment.
Brennan did not hesitate.
“There’s still a legion of professionals in the law enforcement environment, Department of Justice, as well as the CIA and other places,” Brennan said.
That line immediately exploded across conservative media and social media platforms, with many interpreting the statement as confirmation that career bureaucrats inside intelligence and law enforcement agencies are intentionally undermining Trump-aligned policies and investigations.
Brennan continued by describing government employees who, in his view, are refusing to cooperate with actions tied to the Trump administration.
“The ones who are refusing to follow politically motivated prosecutions, those who are refusing to support any type of political activities in the part of the Trump administration that are inconsistent with the authorities, the responsibilities of the intelligence community, law enforcement community, and Department of Justice,” Brennan confidently said to Nicolle Wallace.
To critics of the intelligence establishment, Brennan’s remarks sounded less like a defense of professionalism and more like an open endorsement of bureaucratic resistance.
Brennan went even further, suggesting that federal employees and judges should continue acting as a counterweight against Trump’s efforts.
“So, we have to rely on these individuals to stand up to their professional responsibilities and also to courts, to the judges…” Brennan said.
For millions of Americans who watched federal agencies aggressively pursue Trump while appearing to give preferential treatment to political allies on the left, Brennan’s comments reinforced long-standing concerns about a two-tiered justice system.
Ironically, Brennan’s comments arrive as legal scrutiny surrounding the origins of the Russia collusion narrative intensifies.
The former CIA chief is reportedly under investigation as part of an expanding grand jury probe connected to the Russiagate saga — the same controversy that consumed much of Trump’s first presidency and was repeatedly used by Democrats and media allies to attack him.
WATCH:
Last summer, reports surfaced indicating that former FBI Director James Comey and Brennan were both under FBI investigation regarding their roles in the Trump-Russia investigation.
Current CIA Director John Ratcliffe reportedly referred both Brennan and Comey for possible prosecution, escalating the stakes dramatically for two of the most prominent intelligence officials tied to the anti-Trump investigation.
The probe is being overseen by U.S. Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones in the Southern District of Florida.
As more details emerge, Brennan’s televised remarks may ultimately become a defining moment in the broader debate over government accountability, political weaponization, and the role of entrenched federal power in Washington.
For years, Americans were told there was no coordinated resistance inside federal agencies. Now, one of the most powerful former intelligence officials in the country appears to be admitting exactly that on national television.
