Mullin Nukes Schumer Over Anti-ICE Rant

A fiery political clash erupted Thursday morning after Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin responded to remarks from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer criticizing federal immigration enforcement agencies. During a sharp interview on Fox News, Mullin blasted the longtime New York Democrat and accused him of disrespecting the men and women tasked with protecting America’s borders.

The heated exchange came after Schumer spoke on the Senate floor Wednesday night, where he argued against boosting funding for Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In his remarks, Schumer claimed the nation did not need to pour more taxpayer dollars into the agencies, adding that they were organizations “that nobody respects in this country.”

Those comments quickly sparked outrage among conservatives and law enforcement supporters who viewed the statement as an insult to officers working dangerous jobs every day.

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin played Schumer’s remarks during an interview with Mullin and asked the Homeland Security chief for his reaction. Mullin did not hold back.
