A local Democratic official in Pennsylvania is now at the center of a sprawling criminal case that prosecutors say exposes a shocking abuse of public trust.
Zachary Borghi, a commissioner in Lehigh County with ties to Bethlehem city government, has been arrested and hit with a sweeping list of felony drug charges. Authorities allege the case is backed by extensive digital evidence, including text messages and cloud data that span nearly two years.
Borghi was taken into custody without resistance and arraigned late last month. After failing to secure his release with a $500,000 bail, he remains behind bars at Lehigh County Jail as the case moves forward.
Dozens of Felony Counts Paint a Damaging Picture
The charges filed against Borghi are not minor. Prosecutors have outlined a staggering list of accusations, including 89 counts of criminal use of a communications facility and 14 counts tied to the delivery of cocaine. An additional charge involves the alleged distribution of psilocybin mushrooms.
Investigators claim that Borghi used his phone and online accounts to coordinate drug deals across multiple locations over an extended period. According to officials, these alleged activities were not limited to private settings.
