He suggested the alleged wrongdoing being examined is nothing more than speaking with people connected to the country before conflict intensified in the region.
“He said the alleged offense was simply ‘talking to people in Iran before the war.’”
Carlson also claimed federal authorities have already accessed his private communications.
“They read my texts,” he said.
The accusation reportedly revolves around whether those conversations might fall under the scope of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, commonly referred to as FARA.
The federal statute requires individuals acting on behalf of foreign governments or political interests inside the United States to register with the government and publicly disclose their activities.
Carlson said investigators appear to be exploring whether his communications could somehow violate that law.

“The crime under consideration would be the foreign agent act or something like that, acting as an agent of a foreign power,” Carlson said.
Carlson Denies Any Wrongdoing
Despite the seriousness of the claim, Carlson expressed confidence that the issue will not lead to charges.
“I don’t expect this to go anywhere,” he said.
Carlson also insisted he has never been paid or directed by any foreign government.
“I am not an agent of a foreign power,” he said, emphasizing that he has “never taken money from anybody.”
The conservative commentator framed the situation as politically motivated, suggesting his criticism of American foreign policy may have triggered hostility inside intelligence circles.
Carlson Points to Israel Policy Disputes
Carlson speculated that anger within the intelligence community could be tied to his outspoken views about U.S. policy toward Israel.
He argued that some officials inside the CIA have taken issue with his commentary on the subject.
Carlson specifically suggested that some within the agency were “mad at me for my views about Israel.”
His remarks come at a time when debate inside conservative circles has intensified over America’s role in the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Iran-backed groups in the Middle East.
Carlson has repeatedly questioned whether U.S. involvement abroad aligns with the “America First” philosophy that helped reshape Republican politics in recent years.
During remarks at a conference hosted by Turning Point USA last December, Carlson sharply criticized what he described as Washington’s tendency to prioritize foreign interests over American taxpayers.
“Is it ‘America First’ to take money from a foreign lobby so you’ll send taxpayer dollars to that country? Even the question kind of answers itself, obviously it isn’t. That’s not an attack on Israel; it’s certainly not antisemitism, despite the efforts of many to claim that it is. It’s just an obvious statement,” Carlson said.
Trump Distances Himself
The controversy is also unfolding amid growing tensions between Carlson and Donald Trump.
Once seen as ideological allies, the relationship between the two figures has cooled in recent months over disagreements about foreign policy.
Trump recently signaled frustration with Carlson’s commentary.
“Tucker has lost his way,” Trump told ABC News. “He’s not MAGA,” he said.
The public split has drawn attention across conservative media, as Carlson remains one of the most influential voices among grassroots voters.
No Confirmation From Federal Agencies
At this stage, Carlson’s claims remain unverified.
He did not present evidence showing that a criminal referral has formally been submitted or that an investigation has officially begun.
According to Newsweek, requests for comment were sent to both the Justice Department and the CIA, but neither agency provided a response outside of normal business hours.
Without confirmation from federal officials, the situation remains unclear.
But if Carlson’s claim proves accurate, it would mark an extraordinary moment in American political media, placing one of the country’s most prominent commentators directly at odds with the nation’s intelligence apparatus.
For now, Carlson insists he has done nothing wrong and expects the matter to quietly disappear.
Whether the allegations materialize into a formal investigation or fade away entirely could determine the next chapter in the ongoing clash between media figures, political power, and the intelligence community.
