For years, Democratic leaders have warned that requiring identification to vote is a modern version of racial suppression.
But that argument just ran head-first into one of the most influential voices in media, and his response was blunt enough to leave the entire talking point wobbling.
Podcast giant Joe Rogan addressed the voter ID debate this week during a conversation with journalist Michael Shellenberger, and his reaction to the familiar Democratic argument was immediate.
His verdict?
“That’s horses—.”
The two words landed like a hammer in a debate that has dominated Washington in recent months as lawmakers clash over election security proposals.
And Rogan did not stop there.
During the discussion, Shellenberger outlined the progressive argument that voter identification requirements resemble the barriers used during the Jim Crow era, when literacy tests and poll taxes were weaponized to keep Black Americans from voting.
