President Donald Trump will travel to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to personally attend the dignified transfer of six American service members who were killed during the escalating conflict with Iran, according to the White House. The solemn ceremony will mark the return of the fallen heroes to American soil and allow their families to witness the military’s highest honors being carried out.
The announcement was confirmed by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who said the president intends to be present to show respect and solidarity with the families of the soldiers who lost their lives during the early days of the campaign.
Leavitt said the president’s presence at the transfer ceremony reflects his desire to stand beside the grieving families during one of the most difficult moments imaginable.
The six soldiers were killed during a devastating Iranian drone strike on March 1, when a one-way attack drone struck a tactical operations center at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait. The strike occurred during the opening phase of a major military campaign known as Operation Epic Fury, a joint U.S. and Israeli effort targeting Iran’s military infrastructure.
