Trump’s Military Just Took Down Cartel Drones

For four years, critics say the southern border functioned less like a line of sovereignty and more like open terrain for criminal syndicates. Under President Joe Biden, cartel activity surged, and now a dramatic confrontation in Texas is being cited as proof of just how far the situation escalated.

This week, the administration of Donald Trump responded decisively after suspected cartel drones crossed into restricted American airspace near El Paso International Airport. Within hours, military counter-drone units disabled the aircraft, prompting a temporary shutdown of the airport before officials declared the skies secure.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed the rapid response in a blunt public statement: “The FAA and DOW acted swiftly to address a cartel drone incursion. The threat has been neutralized, and there is no danger to commercial travel in the region.”

The Federal Aviation Administration initially imposed what observers described as an unprecedented 10-day restriction on airspace near the airport—something rarely seen outside of a national emergency. But once the threat was eliminated, operations resumed the following morning.
