Dean Cain Just SHUT DOWN Ethan Hawke

Dean Cain Delivers a Sharp Reality Check

Dean Cain, the former Superman star and recent ICE supporter, didn’t hold back in responding to Hawke’s complaints.

On X (formerly Twitter), Cain shot back with three words that cut straight to the point: “Try being a conservative, pal.”

His remark highlights a stark contrast: while Hawke complains from his safe liberal bubble, conservatives in Hollywood have faced decades of professional punishment just for speaking their minds.

Hollywood’s Conservative Blacklist Is Real

Consider James Woods, an Oscar-nominated actor who hasn’t appeared in a major role since 2014. His agent even dropped him over political beliefs, sending an email on the Fourth of July: “It’s the 4th of July and I’m feeling patriotic. I don’t want to represent you anymore. I mean I could go on a rant but you know what I’d say.”

Kevin Sorbo’s manager was equally blunt, telling him that his conservative views and social media activity “put me at the back of the bus with studios.” Tim Allen famously compared being a conservative in Hollywood to “1930s Germany” on Jimmy Kimmel Live, warning that dissenting views are met with severe backlash.

Friends of Abe: Conservatives Had to Go Underground

The repression became so intense that a secret group called Friends of Abe was formed, quietly operating for more than a decade with over 1,800 members, including Gary Sinise, Jon Voight, Kelsey Grammer, and Clint Eastwood.

Members kept their identities secret, fearing career-ending repercussions if they were exposed. Crew members on politically sensitive projects sometimes worked under fake names, and makeup artists lost clients simply for being registered Republicans. Attendees of Friends of Abe meetings have recounted breaking down in tears over the professional consequences they faced just for being conservative.

Hollywood’s Double Standard Is Clear

Meanwhile, at the same Sundance Film Festival, Olivia Wilde and Natalie Portman proudly displayed “ICE OUT” pins on the red carpet, attacking immigration enforcement. They faced no career setbacks, and their activism did not threaten their Hollywood standing.

Now, imagine Dean Cain or Kevin Sorbo wearing pro-Trump pins at a major festival. The reaction would be entirely different. Conservatives risk roles, reputations, and contracts, while liberal actors enjoy full protection for their activism.

The contrast couldn’t be clearer. Ethan Hawke’s fear of speaking freely comes from a position of privilege in Hollywood’s liberal elite, while real consequences continue to target conservatives who dare challenge the industry’s dominant political narrative.
