Security and attendees moved quickly to neutralize the threat. Kazmierczak was tackled to the ground, restrained with his arms pinned behind him, and promptly escorted out of the room. Omar resumed the town hall minutes later, continuing her speech without further interruptions.
Authorities have not yet disclosed what the liquid contained or whether it posed any risk. The suspect was taken into custody, and the investigation remains active as law enforcement works to determine his motives and the nature of the substance.
Days before the town hall, Kazmierczak reportedly hinted at trouble. His neighbor, Brian Kelley, told The Post that Kazmierczak asked him to watch his dog while he attended Omar’s event — adding ominously that he might not return home soon.
“He said, ‘I’m going to this Omar thing.’ I’m like, Omar what? He said, ‘This town hall thing.’ And he said, ‘I might get arrested,’” Kelley said.
At the time, Kelley didn’t take the comment seriously.
“I figured it was nonsense. He wasn’t going to do anything stupid. I said, ‘Sure, I’ll walk her.’ But then the next day he said, ‘Don’t worry about it, I’ve got it covered.’ I figured he blew that off,” Kelley added.
Following the attack, Kazmierczak was booked into Hennepin County Jail on a third-degree assault charge, according to jail records.
The incident comes as political tensions in Minnesota remain high. Omar, first elected to Congress in 2018, has frequently clashed with former President Trump’s administration. Her confrontations have been particularly heated amid federal investigations and enforcement actions tied to fraud cases in Minnesota’s Somali community. Omar is also under scrutiny for a significant increase in valuation linked to a winery she owns.
Neither Omar’s office nor local law enforcement provided official statements late Tuesday. Authorities confirmed the investigation is ongoing, leaving questions about motive and the nature of the substance still unanswered.
