Security and attendees moved quickly to neutralize the threat. Kazmierczak was tackled to the ground, restrained with his arms pinned behind him, and promptly escorted out of the room. Omar resumed the town hall minutes later, continuing her speech without further interruptions.
Authorities have not yet disclosed what the liquid contained or whether it posed any risk. The suspect was taken into custody, and the investigation remains active as law enforcement works to determine his motives and the nature of the substance.
Days before the town hall, Kazmierczak reportedly hinted at trouble. His neighbor, Brian Kelley, told The Post that Kazmierczak asked him to watch his dog while he attended Omarâs event â adding ominously that he might not return home soon.
âHe said, âIâm going to this Omar thing.â Iâm like, Omar what? He said, âThis town hall thing.â And he said, âI might get arrested,ââ Kelley said.
At the time, Kelley didnât take the comment seriously.
âI figured it was nonsense. He wasnât going to do anything stupid. I said, âSure, Iâll walk her.â But then the next day he said, âDonât worry about it, Iâve got it covered.â I figured he blew that off,â Kelley added.
Following the attack, Kazmierczak was booked into Hennepin County Jail on a third-degree assault charge, according to jail records.
The incident comes as political tensions in Minnesota remain high. Omar, first elected to Congress in 2018, has frequently clashed with former President Trumpâs administration. Her confrontations have been particularly heated amid federal investigations and enforcement actions tied to fraud cases in Minnesotaâs Somali community. Omar is also under scrutiny for a significant increase in valuation linked to a winery she owns.
Neither Omarâs office nor local law enforcement provided official statements late Tuesday. Authorities confirmed the investigation is ongoing, leaving questions about motive and the nature of the substance still unanswered.
