ICE Veteran Ditches Job, Hits Politics Hard

Madison Sheahan, the deputy director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and a trusted ally of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, is leaving the agency to run for Congress, according to two U.S. officials familiar with the plan who spoke with CBS News on Thursday.

Sheahan assumed the role of ICE’s second-in-command in March, part of a broader Trump administration shakeup designed to strengthen the agency’s enforcement efforts. Her promotion came amid rising pressure on ICE to escalate arrests and deportations of criminal illegal aliens across the country.

Noem publicly confirmed Sheahan’s departure in a statement to CBS News, praising her prospective political career. “Sheahan would be a great defender of freedom when she goes to Congress,” Noem said, noting that she has known her for years.

In her remarks, Noem highlighted Sheahan’s leadership at ICE. “Madison Sheahan is a work horse, strong executor, and terrific leader who led the men and women of ICE to achieve the American people’s mandate to target, arrest, and deport criminal illegal aliens,” she said. “We wish her all the best.”
