Thomas Massie Attacks Trump Over Venezuela

Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie is once again breaking ranks with President Donald Trump, this time launching a full-scale attack over the administration’s decisive military action in Venezuela that led to the arrest of longtime socialist strongman Nicolás Maduro.

As President Trump’s operation drew praise from conservatives, Venezuelan exiles, and even a handful of Democrats, Massie instead chose to echo the same talking points coming from the Left and legacy media. Over the weekend, the libertarian-leaning congressman unleashed a series of statements questioning the legality, motive, and intent behind the mission, framing it as reckless imperialism rather than a targeted strike against a narco-terrorist regime.

Within hours of Maduro’s capture, Massie accused the Trump administration of deception and ulterior motives, posting on social media:

“AG and others legally characterize attack in Venezuela as ‘arrest with military support.’ Meanwhile Trump announces he’s taken over the country and will run it until he finds someone suitable to replace him. Added bonus: says American oil companies will get to exploit the oil.”

Massie quickly escalated his criticism, claiming the administration’s messaging was inconsistent and misleading.
