Chicago Dispatch Audio Captures “Stand Down” Order

Audio recordings and internal communications obtained by reporters appear to show that responding Chicago police officers were ordered to hold back from helping the besieged agents.
“Younger male Hispanic wearing all black … wanted for the hit-and-run, this guy fled from the scene,” a dispatcher said during the frantic radio exchange, as shared by ExxAlerts on X.

Moments later, a male voice instructed the dispatcher to have responding units “stay put” several blocks away. Then came a direct command:
“Per the chief of patrol: Clear everybody out, we’re not responding over there.”

The dispatcher relayed the order: “Per the chief of patrol, all units clear out from there, we’re not sending anybody out to that location.”

Even one officer caught in the chaos could be heard replying over the radio, “We’re going to clear out as soon as we can, we’re like blocked in over here, so we’re going to do the best we can to get out of here as soon as we can.”

Internal Memo Confirms Non-Response

An internal memo obtained by Fox News appeared to confirm the command. It read:
“PLEASE CHIEF OF PATROL NO UNITS WILL RESPOND TO THIS AS RELATED FROM 04-Oc5-2025/12:34:44…CALLER IS 1 OF APPROX 30 ARMED PATROL AGENTS (ICE) WHO ARE BEING SURROUNDED BY A LARGE CROWD OF PEOPLE REQUESTING CPD.”

The document aligns with the dispatcher’s instructions, suggesting Chicago Police brass ordered officers to disengage despite an active threat against federal law enforcement.

CPD Denies Stand-Down Order

Facing mounting backlash, the Chicago Police Department issued a statement denying the claim.
“To clarify misinformation currently circulating, CPD officers did in fact respond to the shooting scene involving federal authorities on Saturday to maintain public safety and traffic control,” the department said.

They added, “The Chicago Police Department will always respond to anyone who is being attacked or is under the threat of physical harm. For incidents involving federal immigration enforcement, CPD supervisors will respond to the scene and determine the appropriate course of action in accordance with City law.”

Homeland Security Responds

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the seriousness of the attack, writing on X:
“Today in Chicago, members of our brave law enforcement were attacked — rammed and boxed in by ten vehicles, including an attacker with a semi-automatic weapon.”

She vowed to send additional resources to the city to ensure the safety of federal personnel.

The Bigger Picture

This latest episode highlights growing tensions between federal immigration enforcement and local officials in Democrat-run cities that have declared themselves “sanctuaries” for illegal immigrants. Chicago’s apparent hesitation to back up federal officers in a life-threatening situation has ignited fury among conservatives who see it as proof that political ideology is overtaking public safety.

If confirmed, the stand-down order could represent one of the most disturbing examples yet of a major city putting politics above protection — even when federal agents’ lives are on the line.
