Caller’s “Gotcha” Moment Backfires Spectacularly
During a live C-SPAN segment on black families in America, a caller named Anwar decided to attack Squires personally instead of engaging with his arguments. After criticizing his views, the caller asked smugly, “Are you a DEI hire for Heritage?”
Big mistake.
Squires didn’t flinch. With calm precision, he exposed how hollow that question really was.
“Let me answer the second question first, right, in terms of being a DEI hire. There’s no part of me that believes that. I have the respect of my colleagues,” Squires replied. “My work stands for itself. As I said, I’ve been writing about these issues and thinking about these issues since I was 15, but even in an official capacity for over a decade.”
